Through a collaborative approach, NWUP strives to cultivate a community where diverse voices are heard and respected, and where collective action serves as a catalyst for positive change. With unwavering dedication, we advocate for justice, equality, and empowerment, ensuring that all members of our society have the opportunity to thrive and contribute to a more just and equitable world.
Join us in our commitment to building a brighter future where every individual is valued, every voice is heard, and every right is protected. Together, we stand united for progress.
Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and it never will. Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them, and these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both. The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of those whom they oppress.
As Members of NW St. Johns United for Progress, We:
- Connect with active and registered Democratic voters and develop a network of precinct leaders and neighborhood coordinators to get out the vote.
- Educate Northwest St. Johns County residents as to the values, policies and positions of the progressive movement and the Democratic Party.
- Facilitate communication, comradery, and community among Democratic and Progressive voters across St. Johns County.
- Identify and support viable candidates for public office.
- Increase the number of registered Democratic voters in Northwest St. Johns County.
- Mobilize members on important legislation and hold our representatives accountable for their voting records.
Our Democratic Ideals
Affordable Housing
Affordable housing is a critically important need as it directly impacts the stability and well-being of individuals and families, serving as a cornerstone for economic security and social mobility. Without accessible housing options, communities face the risk of increased homelessness, inequality, and diminished opportunities for growth and prosperity.
Reproductive Freedom
Reproductive freedom is essential for individuals to have autonomy over their bodies, health, and futures, ensuring that they can make informed decisions about their health without interference or coercion. Without reproductive freedom, individuals may face barriers to accessing essential healthcare services, jeopardizing their rights to choose if, when, and how to start or expand their families.
Public Education
Properly funding public education is crucial for fostering a society where every individual has the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background or socioeconomic status. Without adequate investment in public education, disparities in resources and opportunities persist, hindering the ability of students to succeed and undermining the foundation of a fair and equitable society.
Accessible Healthcare
Accessible healthcare is a fundamental right for ensuring that everyone can lead a healthy and productive life, regardless of their financial situation. Without access to affordable healthcare, individuals may forego necessary medical treatment, leading to worsened health outcomes and widening disparities in overall well-being within society.
Sensible Gun Reform
Common-sense gun reform measures can help mitigate the devastating impact of gun violence on communities, fostering a safer and more secure society for all. The importance of sensible gun reform lies in its potential to enhance public safety while preserving the rights of responsible gun owners.
Equality & Equity
Equality and equity are essential for creating a fair and just society where every individual has the opportunity to thrive regardless of their background. Embracing these principles fosters inclusivity, empowers marginalized communities, and ensures that everyone has access to the resources and opportunities needed to reach their full potential.
One of the great liabilities of history is that all too many people fail to remain awake through great periods of social change. Every society has its protectors of status quo and it’s fraternities of the indifferent who are notorious for sleeping through revolutions. Today, our very survival depends on our ability to stay awake, to adjust to new ideas, to remain vigilant and to face the challenge of change.
