5 Year Work Plan Introduction – The 5-year facilities work plan guides the district capital and construction decisions. It includes projections for 5, 10 and 20 years.
The presentation began with an enrollment history as a foundational element of the plan.
In school year 2017-2018 the district enrollment for the first 20 days of school was 40,239 and at the beginning of 2025-2026 school year enrollment was 52,556. The projection for the next 20 years will 72,689.
The last 5-year plan included building a new high school and a new elementary school (for the south end of the county). The current need is for a new high school sooner than later. The new high school will be located in the Silverleaf community, since Tocoi High School is over capacity. The district will move forward with the building of the high school within the next 3 years. The first year will be for planning and securing a bid for construction and the following 2 years will be for the actual construction of the building. A question was asked if we could build a bigger compacity school. There are challenges with safety and educational concerns, so we will continue to build high schools with a capacity of 2100 students. The best news is that the district has saved money to start construction without having to secure a loan.
Facilitron Scheduling System – is being launch on June 4, 2026, to standardize and streamline facility reservations.
Mental Health Assistance Allocation (MHAA) – centers on supporting mental health and well-being through mental health assistant allocation. Mental Health funding totals 4.41 million for the 2026-2027 school year.
BRAVE Program – the district partners with BRAVE to connect students to community mental health providers, focusing on insurance acceptance and long-term care. Funds are set-aside to remove barriers like co-paus and insurance issues for outside counseling through BRAVE.
Sources of Strength program – expanding to 21 schools with a new elementary school pilot.
