Notes from St Johns County Commissioners Meeting – May 5, 2026

The meeting begins with several Recognitions and proclamations: two gentlemen 100th birthdays, both in attendance, also correctional officers, St Gerard campus for teen mothers, and Foster Parents appreciation.

Public comments:

One woman in the audience gave a 3 min. statement that centered on pro Christian religion in government. She gave biblical references but was unclear as to what she was requesting.

Another person spoke in support of the city changing to electric horseless carriages in place of horse drawn carriages. Thus, stopping the abuse of the horses in the heat of summer.

  1.  ADMA26-01 District 3  – Discussion of Outpost at Old Moultrie – to allow for Food Trucks and vendors to work lawfully. Board members were in favor of continuing the use of the location but requiring the developer to agree to make improvements for parking, restrooms and safety. As were their suggestion and plan to do so. A large group of food truck, vendors and interested neighbors were there to voice their support. This is on a previously developed area. Therefore, repurposing this vacant space.
  2. MAJMOD 2025-11 District 5 – Request for a major modification to Golfway Centre PUD. The board did not approve to allow the developer to eliminate the requirement to preserve an isolated wetland on the site of 3.8 acres. The developers were asking to be permitted to “pave over the wetland and literally put a parking lot in its place. The board voted 4 to 1 against the project. District 5 Ann Taylor, Vice-Chair, was vocally against taking out the wetland. Whereas the Chair, Clay Murphy, seemed okay with the idea.
  3. REZ 2024-18 District 4  –  Enclave at World Golf, 3740 Pacetti Road, to rezone 18.5 acres request for relief from the Florida Land Use and Environmental Dispute Resolution Act. Several residents were present and voiced objections due to concerns for putting even more traffic on SR13. Board took no action.
  4. Board approved Thomas Turner to represent District 3 for a vacancy on the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee

And so it was, May 5th 2026
