🚨 ACTION ALERT: Redistricting, Vaccines, and AI , Special Session Starts April 28 🚨

Florida legislators are heading back to Tallahassee Tuesday, April 28 for a special session and we now know that this isn’t just about redistricting.

The agenda has expanded to include two other major issues:Β  vaccine policy, and artificial intelligence.

Redistricting is the headline, but the supermajority is also reviving proposals on vaccine exemptions and an “AI Bill of Rights”,all in a compressed timeline. Taken together, these efforts point in a clear direction: shaping who votes and how votes are counted (redistricting), expanding individual optouts and limiting public health mandates (vaccines), and setting early rules for how emerging technologies are used and regulated (AI). Each issue carries longterm consequences, and moving them quickly through a short special session limits public scrutiny while locking in policy that can last for years.

Redistricting is typically done after the census every 10 years. Holding a redraw outside that cycle raises red flags about political manipulation and gerrymandering. Redistricting decides who represents us and done fairly it reflects real communities; done strategically it can silence voters.

What to say (keep it simple + personal):

Redistricting:

  • Support fair, transparent maps
  • Oppose gerrymandering and politically manipulated districts
  • Remind them: voters should choose their representatives, not the other way around

Vaccines:

  • Protect access to vaccines and public health standards
  • Oppose broad exemptions that weaken community health protections
  • Ensure decisions are guided by medical experts, not politics

Artificial Intelligence (AI):

  • Support responsible, transparent AI protections
  • Protect privacy, children, and consumers from misuse
  • Oppose rushing complex AI policy through a short special session without public input

β€œHi, I’m a constituent from St. Johns County. I’m asking you to support fair, transparent redistricting and oppose any form of gerrymandering. Please also ensure any vaccine policy protects public health and is guided by medical experts, and that AI legislation prioritizes privacy, safety, and transparency. These are complex, longterm issues and should not be rushed through a short special session. Thank you.”

⏱ Timing matters: This is a short April 28–May 1 session. Calls and emails during the session carry the most weight.

Also, speciall session for the budget has been set to begin in May 12.
